He attended school in Galatia Illinois.

Joe proudly served in the US Army overseas in the Korean War. He received a Korean Service Medal, an Army Occupational Medal for 3 months special training at EtiJima in Japan, a United States Service Medal and a National Defense Service Medal. He also served in the National Guard.

Among Joe's jobs in younger years he worked at the Fisher Body Corporation in

Joe spent his career working for the United States Postal Service as either a Post Master, Mail Carrier or Clerk, but happily retired from Kingston's Post Office at age 55. The first thing he wanted to do was go see his brothers, sisters and their families in Illinois.

Joes greatest love would be his family and how he will be remembered.

He was a loving, compassionate, good natured man, friendly, with a great sense of humor, loved by everyone. His kids friends often called him Dad, his grandkids friends called him Grampa.

While living in California he attended church at Saint Paul's Catholic Church in Pismo Beach, BBQ'd for the gatherings at the local Fire Department and belonged to the Lions Club.

All the things he enjoyed he passed along to his children & grandchildren like fishing, hunting, shooting guns, clamming, camping, barbecuing and cooking. He enjoyed food and said "I never met a cheese I didn't like", and his favorite pie was "hot or cold! ". He spent most of his time enjoying the view from his waterfront home, taking care of his property and gardens, fishing at President Point and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Good at tinkering and fixing things, he was always available to lend a hand no matter what it was.
