David Craig Dixon

April 30, 1948 – April 26, 2024

David Craig Dixon of Kingston, WA, was loved by family and friends for his kindness, loyalty, love of music, and joy in connecting to people wherever he met them. He was born and raised in Spokane, Washington, but loved to travel. After attending Ferris High School and Eastern Washington State College, his life and career took him to Rota, Spain, Salt Lake City, and eventually to Kingston. There, he and his wife Claudia raised goats, rabbits, and three kids. David loved nearly any kind of music with an openness reflected in his curiosity for places, people and the stories they shared.

With a true orientation to service, David was always ready to help out, from 5 am carpools to coaching kids soccer before knowing anything about it. He worked for the Navy in human resources for more than 30 years, received a Meritorious Civilian Service Medal, and retired in 2013. After his retirement, he continued his service by volunteering for Edmonds Center for the Arts, Olympic Gateway Visitor Center in Chimacum, and ShareNet, among others. Alongside beloved dogs Duffy and Molly, David spent untold hours along roads near his home, picking up litter and greeting neighbors.

On April 26, 2024, David passed away from complications of prostate cancer and a long-term heart condition. Son of Phloris and Howard Knight Dixon, he is survived by his wife, Claudia Haspedis Dixon; his children, Erin, Colin & Kyrsa Dixon; his sister, Jan Miller and nephew, Erik Miller; and his four grandchildren, Eiden, Galileo, Cypress and Tanager.

Donations can be made in David's name to ShareNet Food Bank, where he volunteered for years and had many friends. Listen to a new song, or an old favorite, for him.

Arrangements are under the care of Simplicity Cremation of Poulsbo, WA.
